Sleep, Rest and Play!

We are all guilty of working too hard, whether it be down at the office, studying for exams or looking after the kids. Sometimes it feels like you don’t get a minutes rest! Making time to rest and play is as important as working to keep the bread on the table, because if you don’t make time to relax you can become very stressed and potentially ill.

When you have been working all day it is important to have a good night’s sleep to let your body recuperate. This means sleeping for at least 8 hours per night. Although this sounds simple, if you have young children or suffer with insomnia then it can be quite difficult. However you shouldn’t reside yourself to a life of poor quality sleep and instead you should research the cause of the problem and find ways to solve it. Sleep deprivation can cause stress, depression, poor concentration and headaches which is detrimental to your work and yourself.

Almost as important as a good night’s sleep is having time to enjoy yourself! Work hard – play hard! Taking time out from a busy lifestyle to kick back and have some fun can give you a much needed rest and a much needed boost! If you don’t have time to enjoy yourself you will become tired, grumpy and stressed out and consequently less productive at work. Set aside a week or two every 6 months to have a family holiday, choose something that will cause you the minimum amount of stress and above all – leave your work at home!
