Exercise- Even only 30 mins a day!

It has been scientifically proven that exercising for a mere 30 minutes per day can add years to your life, make you happier and slimmer. We are all busy with one thing or another, but there is no excuse for not being able to add half an hour of exercise into your daily routine. This doesn’t have to mean joining the gym or attending fitness classes, because there are more than enough free ways to exercise. Try walking or cycling to work, but if this isn’t possible then take half an hours brisk walk in the evening when you get home. Make small changes such as climbing the stairs instead of using the lift. If you have children then involve them in the process and encourage them to exercise with you, it is sure to give them the right start to life. If you find that you get easily bored by doing the same thing every day then invest in a skipping rope or trampoline to spice things up a bit. You will notice the difference in your fitness, your waistline and your mood in no time.

Exercise works to improve your health in a number of ways. Firstly it gets your heart and lungs to work harder, which improves your cardiovascular fitness. This strengthens your heart muscle and reduces cholesterol. Secondly it can help you stay slimmer which again can prevent heart disease and also diabetes. Exercise releases adrenaline and endorphins into the bloodstream, which are chemicals that improve your mood, so whether you are suffering from chronic depression or simply having an off day then exercising could certainly be of benefit. If you struggle to get around because of back pain or arthritis then you are probably reluctant to exercise for fear of it exasperating your problem. However exercise strengthens back muscles and lubricates joints which helps to combat both these issues!
